MedTech Expo 2023 | NEC Arena

We had the pleasure of attending the MedTech Expo held at the NEC Arena in Birmingham on Wednesday, June 7th. One thing that immediately stands out to me is that we wish we had gone for both days!

Our Associate Client Manager, Tom Drury, and I had the opportunity to meet with some great minds in the MedTech field. We met not only those immediately situated in it but also those who are supplying great collaborations and support to MedTech businesses.

During our trip, we had the chance to meet award-winning professionals who support the enhancement and delivery of medical products, both physical and digital. We also connected with marketeers, QARA-specific consultancies, and niche product innovators in medical technology.

We attended some great talks among the exhibits, where we gained valuable insights from speakers such as Graeme Cameron, CEO at Pennine Healthcare. His talk on "Building Resilience and Security of Supply in UK MedTech" was particularly enlightening. We also attended the Med-Talk Podcast Live, moderated by Ian Bolland, Group Content Manager at Rapid Medtech. The panel included Laurie Rowe, Founder & Director of Red MedTech, Fiona Maini, Principal – Global Compliance at Medidata, and Laura Friedl-Hirst, Principal Consultant & Managing Director at LFH Regulatory Ltd. They discussed "The Latest in the MedTech Regulatory Landscape."

These individuals provided us with great perspectives and intelligence on what is happening in their worlds. It was refreshing to hear how positive the market is for these businesses. Despite facing challenges such as MDR, staffing, supply chain, and distribution, they are thriving. Their success can be attributed to hard work, grit, belief, and many other positive qualities. The dedication of these teams has driven them to achieve great things with their product lines. Additionally, the funding and financial support within the MedTech space have been unrivaled. Last year, approximately $8.74B was invested, and this year's figures should be very interesting.

Overall, our experience of the trip has been positive, and we hope we left a good impression on those we met. At Cure Talent, we are passionate not only about being a consistent and prolific service provider for those seeking talented individuals for their business but also about being truly involved in our marketplace. Our engagement levels with the technology in the MedTech space are through the roof.

We are deeply passionate about what we do. We believe that there is more to being a Specialist Recruiter than just filling jobs. When given the opportunity to speak to MedTech businesses, we can convey our passion for what we do and what more we can offer.

Often, as a "recruitment agency," attending these events can give the impression that we are solely interested in sniffing out business opportunities. While we do want to engage with those in attendance now and in the future, our primary goal when attending is to understand what is happening in the market. By learning about the activities taking place outside of our four walls and actively engaging at expos and similar events, we can gain valuable knowledge to benefit our customer base. We strive to embed ourselves in the sector and differentiate ourselves as more than "just another recruiter." At Cure Talent, we are so much more than that.

We hope everyone in attendance, including exhibitors and speakers, had a fantastic time at the expo. We look forward to returning next year, reconnecting with returning attendees, and meeting those who will be attending for the first time.

Good luck to all those in the MedTech world. Keep making positive impacts and driving progress in the market!
