A new feature could help detect the onset of atrial fibrillation, which increases risk of stroke!
With the new Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications feature, Fitbit trackers or smartwatches can monitor a user's heart rhythm in the background when they are sitting still or sleeping in order to look for heart rhythm anomalies that might be indicators of AFib. A PPG sensor is used to monitor variations in the amount of blood flowing through the wrist to achieve this. Users are alerted via the Fitbit app if many readings indicate an abnormal heartbeat.
